We at Nsure, utilise this in our operations during our food safety audits to help our clients identify if their cleaning and sanitation program, personal hygiene program and water treatment programs are indeed effective.

We currently use Ultra Snap swabs on equipment, surfaces and hands as well as the Aqua Snap to test for microbial activity.

A test was conducted to prove that chopping boards which have deep cuts cannot be adequately cleaned and disinfected.

We used three Ultra Snap swabs; one lightly used chopping board, with a smoothed-out surface after cleaning and sanitising it as the control point, a chopping board with deep cuts that was cleaned and sanitised, and another chopping board which was only cleaned. The results below may shock you too!

1.      Cleaned and sanitised chopping board with a smooth surface had an RLU of 10 which is a pass

2.      Cleaned and sanitised chopping board with an uneven surface had an RLU of 5169 – which is a failure and surprising since it was soaked in the sanitiser solution for as long as the first chopping board.

3.      Cleaned chopping board with the uneven surface had an RLU of 9978 – also a failed result.

(The higher the RLU the more microorganism activity is present)
